UNE AI competition


LabNext70, the University of New England’s applied AI lab and innovation hub, is inviting people to participate in a competition designed to showcase your skills in generative AI prompt writing.

Challenge

Create innovative prompt writing solutions using an AI platform or other available tools to solve real-world problems.

Ideal for those with a solid foundation in prompt engineering, ready to take their skills to the next level.

No coding experience required - this competition emphasises creative problem-solving and effective prompt crafting rather than technical programming skills.

Prizes

Each winner will receive: $1000 cash prize and a 20-hour paid internship at UNE LabNext70; where you’ll work with our AI team and gain hands-on experience in a real-world environment.

  3. Documentation of your prompt.

  4. Acknowledge the terms and conditions to confirm your eligibility and agree to the competition rules.

Deadline

All entries must be submitted by midnight AEDT, Tuesday April 22, 2025.

Terms and conditions

Eligibility:

  • The competition is open to all staff and students currently enrolled at an Australian university or school at the time of submission.

  • If any participant is under the age of 18 years, they are required to obtain their parent’s or guardian’s permission to enter and agree to these terms and will be deemed to have obtained such permission by submitting an entry.

Submission guidelines:

  • All entries must include a fully functional agent/bot and a brief description (maximum 500 words) outlining its purpose and functionality.

  • Submissions must be submitted by midnight, AEDT, Tuesday April 22, 2025.

  • Entries must be the original work of the participant(s).

  • Entrants can submit more than one (1) entry.

  • By submitting an entry, you declare that the entry is your own original work and that you are the copyright holder for that entry.

  • Participants retain intellectual property rights to their original ideas. The "prize" structure is not payment for work but recognition of excellence and innovation.

Judging criteria:

  • Creativity and originality

  • Technical functionality

  • Practical application of the agent/bot

  • Simplicity and ease of use

  • The judging panel will be required to adhere to UNE Conflict of Interest Policy.

Prize:

Winner(s) will receive a $1000 cash prize and a paid 20-hour internship at UNE LabNext70, working as a casual staff member on a UNE Casual Professional Staff Contract.

Notification of winners:

Winners will be notified by email within three weeks of the submission deadline. A public announcement will also be made through online platforms by the University of New England.

Internship requirements:

Winners must have the right to work in Australia (Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold an appropriate visa).

At the recruitment stage, winners must be able to provide:

i. Work Health and Safety F019 Computer Workstation Ergonomic checklist

ii. Work Health and Safety F031 Off Campus Workplace Assessment checklist

iii. A copy of your Resume/CV

iv. If you are the successful candidate for this role you will be required to provide UNE with a National Police Check prior to your commencement.
